The reason for this is that they believe that only necessary agents are ideal to protect the skin from irritants and outside factors. Apotheke’s products aim to slow down the effects of aging, and reduce acne, redness, puffiness, scars, itchiness, and inflammation. It also claims to rescue the skin from eczema. Their most popular products include the Niacinamide 10% Serum, the Detoxifying Face Mask, Spot Treatment, and the Firming Toner.
The Apotheke Toner is formulated with witch hazel extract and pure rose water hydrosol. The Toner aims to close pores and firm the skin while moisturizing it. Witch hazel is a small tree that’s native to North America. This tree is loaded with components that benefit the skin. Witch hazel extract is also known to be a vasoconstrictor, making the blood vessels narrower, and also promotes the healing of broken skin in the way that it can tighten up the skin proteins, resulting in a protective covering.

Our Verdict
One thing that we truly like about this firming astringent is its non-alcohol formula. A lot of toners in the market include alcohol in their ingredients, and that’s such a big no-no, especially for those with the sensitive skin types. It’s great to see a product that deals away with alcohol and only incorporates natural components. Since it’s alcohol-free, it’s non-drying and does give the skin the moisture boost that it needs. Another thing that we like about this astringent is its packaging. We like the spray bottle it’s housed in as it makes dispensing an absolute breeze. We can even use it as a spritzer to freshen up throughout the day.

Apotheke Science Firming Toner
We like that this toning liquid is free from parabens, alcohol, sulfates, and other artificial components. It does feel refreshing on the face when applied, and we swear by Apotheke’s tip of refrigerating this product before spritzing it on! It’s a great thing to do, especially in the warm climate that we have.
We do think that this astringent does cleanse the skin and prepares it well for the next steps in our regimen. It does a good enough job of moisturizing as well. However, we can’t really see its claims of tightening the pores.
Another thing that we’re not into is its scent. It smells off, but it does fade away after a few moments. If you’re not fond of scents or if your skin type is sensitive to scents no matter how short-lived, you may want to steer clear of this one.
Still, for a toning product with a price under PHP 300, you may want to look into it and include it on your beauty shelf. If you’re unsure of toners or if you’re just starting out with using them, you may want to give this one a try.
