We Tried Viral TikTok Skincare Products. Here’s What We Think

Before, people looked to celebrity endorsements and beauty magazines for the latest trends. To say social media revolutionized the beauty industry would be an understatement, and it seems that TikTok has changed the game forever โ I mean, what other platform can say they caused The Ordinary products to sell out for weeks?
Being the beauty enthusiasts that we are, we wanted to try some of the products that beauty gurus on the platform canโt get enough of. Keep reading to find out if beauty TikTok is true to its word.
These Internet Skincare Faves Will Give You Even Skin Tone and Reduce Excess Oil
TikTok has so many skin care products that have gone viral on the platform that itโs impossible to review them all. Below, we do a quick-fire round of reviews on some of the most iconic products and brands popularized by the social media platform. Letโs get into it.
CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser

Iโd say CeraVe has always been popular before TikTok, but it seems this alcohol-free classic has been making waves once again. I personally love the brand because Iโm #SensitiveSkinSquad and they have a whole range of products that not only hydrate the skin but effectively heal a host of skin problems.
The CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser is the perfect example. Itโs infused with hyaluronic acid and ceramides, so naturally, people have been raving about how clear and bright it makes their skin overnight. 10/10, would recommend it.
The Ordinary Peeling Solution 30ml AHA 30% + BHA 2%

This is another famed TikTok fave and with good reason. The Ordinary specializes in cheap, effective skin products sans fancy marketing stunts โ which, ironically enough, made them a huge hit on social media.
The Ordinaryโs AHA + BHA peeling mask is great for anyone who deals with acne and residual acne scars. Alpha hydroxy acids and beta hydroxy acids together make for quite the power couple when it comes to exfoliating the skin and helping reduce fine lines.
But be warned, this stuff is strong. Make sure youโre building up skin tolerance first by using this product once a week for 2-3 weeks before using it more frequently.
Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant

If you want something a tad lighter than the TO peeling mask, go for Paulaโs Choice 2% BHA exfoliant. Its BHA concentration is enough to zap annoying pimples without compromising your skin barrier. Also โ Paulaโs Choice is cruelty-free.
CosRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence

Letโs say you accidentally compromised your skin barrier because you accidentally started using that popular AHA + BHA mask, I donโt know, every day. (Donโt be ashamed, weโve all made mistakes.)
One way to rebuild your skin health is the CosRX Snail 96 Essence whose hydrating formula has made countless netizens fall in love. Not only is it incredibly soothing, but itโs been proven to help repair and protect dehydrated skin.
Innisfree Jeju Cherry Blossom Jelly Cream

Innisfree is one of the first skincare brands I fell in love with. Their Jeju Cherry Blossom Cream has a jelly-like texture that is both thick and refreshing, without leaving a sticky feel. It also has awesome skin-loving ingredients like niacinamide. Iโll say the fragrance isnโt my favorite, but your preferences might be different.
Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dew Drops

Vegan and heavily K-beauty inspired, itโs no surprise that Glow Recipe has found success both online and offline. Their Watermelon Glow line features a gorgeous Niacinamide Serum that reduces hyperpigmentation and helps brighten skin.ย
The brand also has a few other products from the Watermelon Glow line that we absolutely adore. You can check out our review of the Sleeping Mask and Pink Juice Moisturizer here.
Peter Thomas Roth Instant Firmx Temporary Eye Tightener
If youโre into eye creams, youโve probably heard of the Peter Thomas Roth Instant Firmx Eye Tightener. Itโs all the rage on TikTok with users raving about its effects, particularly on reducing puffy eyes. One user even showed its transformative effects in under three minutes. Our verdict? It’s amazing, but itโs also quite pricey.
ULTA Tinted Juice Infused Lip Oil

Everyone wants the โlip fillerโ look sans lip filler, and the ULTA Tinted Juice Infused Lip Oil might be the closest we could get. After getting featured on Madison Beerโs Vogue Get Ready With Me video, this product skyrocketed into fame and the rest is history.
The ULTA beauty lip oil is a huge winner. Itโs cruelty-free, affordable, and not to mention highly nourishing with oils from sunflower, jojoba, and pomegranate โ my natural lip color by itself looks brighter after one swipe. Itโs also the ideal primer because it makes applying lipstick really easy.
First Aid Beauty KP Bump Eraser Body Scrub With 10% AHA

If youโve gotten chicken skin from a razor, then listen up. The First Aid Beauty KP Bump Eraser Body Scrub might be what youโre looking for to get rid of those pesky shaving-induced bumps once and for all.
Among these beauty products, this is the one I would buy again. The 10% AHA almost guarantees smooth skin in just a few days of use, itโs almost a miracle. I also noticed it helps even out your skin tone, especially in hyperpigmented, friction-prone areas.
Bonus: Viral Beauty Products That Will Elevate Your Makeup Game
e.l.f. Cosmetics Poreless Putty Primer

Perhaps the biggest mistake you could make when putting together a makeup look is forgetting to prime. The e.l.f. Cosmetics Poreless Putty Primer makes putting on makeup a breeze, even for someone who may have trouble with cakey foundation or textured skin. Get this in your beauty bag pronto.
L’Oreal Paris Makeup Infallible Fresh Wear Foundation

The LโOreal Paris Infallible Fresh Wear Foundation has been featured in plenty of beauty editor roundups, so itโs no surprise that TikTok beauty gurus rave about it too. I love that it actually does stay on throughout the day, despite excess oil and grease attempting to thwart your carefully prepared look. However, it’s not my holy grail foundation; it’s too thick for my sensitive and textured skin.
Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush

With celebrities releasing beauty brands left and right, it can be hard to find one that isnโt a typical overpriced makeup line. But Rare Beauty has found success because of its quality and not just because it has Selena Gomezโs name attached to it.
The Soft Pinch Liquid Blush is another potential makeup staple that I can see maintaining its status for years to come. It comes in two finishes โ matte and dewy โand while I prefer the dewy look, both are incredibly light, buildable, and long-lasting. The shades Love and Grateful are simply *chefโs kiss* for Filipina skin.
Maybelline Lash Sensational Sky High Mascara

If โIs it really worth the hype?โ was a product, this would be it. The way the internet raves about this seemed too good to be true, but once I tried it, I’ll admit that I kind of get it.
My lashes are quite heavy and long, which makes looking for a mascara that can hold them up a little difficult. The Sky High Mascara does it with a breeze (and with help from a curling lash). The results are beautiful and eye-opening lashes with virtually no clumping.
