Over the last couple of years, the fashion industry has bestowed a number of amazing, lasting trends upon us. Among the top include is the athleisure movement, giving us comfortable clothing options, as well as cuter workout gear. The shift towards functional fashion is the reason why style experts have dubbed white sneakers as a wardrobe essential, along with other iconic items like jeans, which together make a laidback yet fashion-forward outfit.

Since the sneaker takeover, many women have retired their heels, or at least have avoided them when an occasion allowed them to do so. But letโ€™s face it. Tennis shoes never make as powerful of a statement as a pair of heels. As comfy and trendy as your white canvas kicks are, the structure and overall allure of pumps give this confidence boost that no flat shoes could ever do. Pair your heels with anything, from a wedding dress to work slacks. Even with something as informal as jeans look ten times better when worn with mules, stilettos or wedges.

While the off-duty model look appears effortless on the likes of the Hadid sisters, sneakers are no match for heels. Take a ratty graphic tee and your favorite blue jeans as an example. When worn with high-tops, the outfit is very casual, very plain, to be honest. But switch the shoes out for some heeled booties, youโ€™re suddenly looking grunge chic.

Itโ€™s true that your choice of footwear is what defines your outfit. Itโ€™s that last piece that you needed to complete the puzzle. And unless youโ€™re headed to the gym, beach, or going for a hike, more often than not, the piece that best fits is a pair of heels.

Today, weโ€™re taking our heel inspiration from the gorgeous celebrity and up-and-coming fashion powerhouse, Zendaya. The star has moved on from her Disney days and has become one of the youngest and most influential names for body positivity and female empowerment by redefining her role in Spider-Man and creating a size inclusive clothing line. Plus, her fashion sense is impeccable, so it was only fair for us to feature her as our current style inspiration.

In a couple of her recent Instagram posts, she was snapped wearing jeans and heels. While there are many ways one can wear jeans with strappy sandals or stilettos, we want to share a few style tips to create some balance.

1) You can never go wrong with skinny jeans

The form-fitted nature of the skinny jean is perfect for showing off your footwear. These bottoms streamline your silhouette. And when you slip into shoes with some height, your legs will instantly look longer.

2) Cropped jeans are also a fantastic option

Show off them ankles by going for cropped styles. Your heels will always be the star of any outfit, so draw more attention to them. If you donโ€™t own any cropped jeans, double cuff them to put the focus on your shoes.

3) Wear pumps with distressed denim

Jeans with rips and such tend to encourage something less feminine, such as moto boots and sneakers. But take it from Zendaya. Distressed denim, particularly ones at capri-length, go great with pointed pumps. Opt for ones in white so they match the white frays on your jeans. If you donโ€™t have white pumps, nude ones will also match well with our Ripped High Waist Skinny Jeans. The nude hue will add on to the leg elongating effect.

4) Choose pointed heels for longer, wider jeans

Donโ€™t have cropped or skinny jeans? No problem! Wider and longer pant legs still work with heels. Just make sure you choose something thatโ€™s close-toe, and maybe go for a higher heel. Pointed styles look awesome when they peek out of long, flared jeans.

5) Wear brighter shoes with darker, looser denim

Black jeans and loose denim can often steal the spotlight in an ensemble. If you donโ€™t want your pants to outshine your shoes, choose louder, brighter heels for contrast. Colorful heels are what for a complete head-to-toe look. Plus, they offer a nice color pop when the rest of your outfit is in monochrome.

Once you have these five basics down, youโ€™ll be able to experiment with your variety of heels and jeans. Also, make sure you stop by our Jeans Section if you need a couple of new pairs of denim.
