Pink Dress

What we choose to wear for the day depends on a variety of factors. Other than the attire required by a certain event or environment youโ€™ll be in, outfits can vary according to our moods and what parts of our personality weโ€™d like to reveal that day. Some of us have our go-to colors, and others like to stick to a specific kind of palette. And then there are those hues that we tend to steer clear of, either because weโ€™ve learned that they donโ€™t look good on us, or simply because we just hate the color.

Some hate black while some avoid white, but for anyone that has a wardrobe composed of neutrals or monochromatic shades, pink might be that color you wouldnโ€™t be caught dead in.

Perhaps it was movies like Legally Blonde and House Bunny which convinced you that only perky personalities could wear pink. Maybe itโ€™s the fact that pink is stereotypically feminine and simply doesnโ€™t fit into your personal style. Or were you traumatized when your friend asked you to be her bridesmaid and made her entire bridal party look like a band of fluffy marshmallows? Whatever the case, there are plenty of those out there that have less than favorable opinions on the color pink.

It might not be because you have anything against the shade. It might just be the mere fact that you havenโ€™t found the right kind of pink to suit your style. Itโ€™s not the easiest to wear among the rest of the colors. However, itโ€™s definitely not impossible to sneak in a hint of pink in your outfit, without it looking like youโ€™re trying to channel your inner Elle Woods.

Letโ€™s find out how you can slip some girly tones in your wardrobe, shall we?

First things first, donโ€™t go for the vibrant tones

Anyone who despises the color will probably see flashes of magenta or other lively tones whenever the word โ€œpinkโ€ is uttered. But there is a wider spectrum of pinks out there that can blend seamlessly with the items you already own. For example, our Solid Pencil Mini Skirt in piggy pink is quite neutral in a senseโ€”perfect for fashionistas that love the neutral color palette. You can also go for darker tones, like our Origami Mini Skirt in pink daisy.

You can always start off small

Too much bright pink is overwhelming to the naked eye, but those neon shades are adorable when seen on your accessories. A silk scarf, sexy stilettos, a bucket bag, you name it! Reserve your daring choices in the little details rather than going bold in your clothing items.

Wear it as a layer underneath a sheer top

Not too fond of the idea of wearing so much pink on top? Tone down the brightness of the hue with a sheer blouse. Here, the top layer will balance out its feminine nature with other colors that appear on your sheer top. Remember the โ€œBend and Snapโ€ scene in Legally Blonde? The addition of her yellow blouse ended up concealing most of her pink tank.

Find traditionally โ€œmasculineโ€ items in pink

Pink has been socially constructed to be the ultimate representation of femininity, which is controversial especially in the fashion industryโ€™s push towards gender neutral clothing. But for as long as we can remember, we were taught that pink was girly. To challenge the feminine quality of pink, use it as a form of juxtaposition. Traditionally โ€œmaleโ€ clothing in light coral, such as pants and blazers, mixes conventional concepts of masculinity and femininity, which could be great for those that are finding less girly ways to wear the shade. Loose silhouettes, like our Comfy Harem Pants, are another option at your disposal.
