Detail Cosmetics Velvet Flush Review

We all love makeup, but sometimes it can be time-consuming. Some days I want to go full glam, other days I just want to go bare with a little bit of color. Iโ€™m sure the feeling is universal, which is why multi-purpose makeup products are a huge hit.

These makeup products are typically cream or mousse-like in texture and can be used on the cheeks, lips, and eyes. One of the most popular products in this arena is the Detail Cosmetics Velvet Flush, a collaboration between two credible beauty gurus from the local makeup scene Mae Layug and Rei Germar. In this full and honest review, we test their products to see if the mousse is a perfect match for us. Read on to find out!

About the Detail Cosmetics Velvet Flush

If youโ€™re a fan of beauty gurus Mae Layug and Rei Germar, chances are youโ€™ve heard of (or even bought) their Detail Cosmetics collaboration: the Velvet Flush line. Co-created and formulated by the two beauty bloggers, the Velvet Flush is a multi-use color mousse with a non-sticky velvet finish.ย

Infused with moisturizing ingredients like vitamin E, shea butter, and avocado oil, the formulation is unique, easy to blend, and sets into a lightweight non-sticky velvet look that lasts throughout the day.

Multi-use products are perfect for the girl whoโ€™s always on the go, and thatโ€™s exactly how the Velvet Flush sets work. You can apply the mousse on your cheeks, lips, and eyes for the perfect daily aesthetic. The cushiony mousse texture makes it easy to apply on almost any type of skin. Plus, anyone can choose from a wide variety of fun shades that work on most skin tones.

The Velvet Flush sets come in six beautiful shades: Max, Cotton, and Milky, which were named after Maeโ€™s cats, and Luna, Bo, and Lucas, which were named after Reiโ€™s dogs. You can see each shade here:

The set has both cherry-based colors as well as warm, orange-based shades.

Ingredients of the Detail Cosmetics Velvet Flush

Details Cosmetics is formulated with nourishing ingredients to keep the skin feeling happy and looking beautiful. In the Velvet Flush, youโ€™ll find many moisturizing components like:

  • Vitamin E. This one acts as a guardian against free radicals, as well as against harmful sun rays.
  • Shea Butter. This natural ingredient is commonly found in moisturizing beauty and cosmetic products as it helps revitalize dry, irritated, or parched skin. On its own, it can help reduce the appearance of scars and discoloration.
  • Avocado Oil. Rich in beta carotene and fatty acids, as well as numerous vitamins, this moisturizing oil protects the skin from sun damage and dehydration.

How to Use the Detail Cosmetics Velvet Flush

The Velvet Flush is a blush mousse product that can be used on the face, lips, and eye area. To use, simply take a small amount using your fingers by pressing gently on the cushion. Dab the desired amount onto the areas you prefer, blending out the product to your liking. The product is actually quite pigmented, so start by using a small amount and slowly build up the color from there.

Our Verdict

Iโ€™m honestly someone who canโ€™t get enough of multi-use products, so I was very excited to try the Velvet Flush โ€“ specifically the two shades Cotton and Max. The first of the two shades is a pinkish nude while the second is an almost brick red. Each one was beautifully textured and so velvety. But what surprised me was how pigmented they turned out to be (I had to remove a little bit of it on the first attempt). Good thing the product is as blendable as it says. Definitely beginner friendly!

The other colors were also very flattering, even though I initially didnโ€™t think they would look that good. To truly test them out, I wore the products all day and they stayed on perfectly

Who doesnโ€™t love an easy-to-apply product that also happens to be super pigmented? My only qualm with this is that the finish is a little matte, while I prefer something on the dewy side. However, if you tend to have oily skin, then I highly recommend this as it doesnโ€™t grease up at all.
