How to Apply Eyeliner Like a Pro
ALL — I repeat ALL — ladies know how difficult it is to put on the perfect winged eyeliner! While some have more or less mastered the art, others (like me) aren’t so fortunate.
I mean, who has a hand so steady that they can make the perfect winged eyeliner and do so every day before rushing to work? I don’t know about you, but to me, it sounds like an impossible task!
Because we’re in quarantine again, I figured it’s the perfect opportunity to practice our eyeliner skills! So here are some tips to help us with this big feat!
Watch out, eyeliner gods, we’re about to slay this!
Find the right products
Applying eyeliner like a pro does not only require steady hands, patience, and lots of determination. A good product can help a lot! For starters, your eyeliner needs to be smudge-proof, smooth, and long-lasting (unless you want to end up looking like a panda for the rest of the day).
It’s a good idea to get an eyeliner that has a pencil on one end and a liquid liner on the other end. That way, you can easily outline and shade without fuss.
Try the Dot-to-Dot Method
Who knew that those connect-the-dots games we played when we were kids would come in handy when applying the perfect eyeliner!
The dot-to-dot method is a cult favorite. You simply have to draw a line of dots along your upper lash line. Make them as close to each other as you want. Then connect all of them together with your pencil or liquid liner.
Or use the magnificent tape
I’m pretty sure you’ve heard about the tape method — a life-saving hack that ladies having trouble with eyeliner have thought of. It’s genius, can I just say…
How this works is you put tape on the edge of your lower lash line, which helps you draw the flick way easier while making little to no mess. There are eye tapes made specifically for this purpose — which works well with both eyeliner and eyeshadow, but scotch tape works too.
Get ready to clean up mistakes
Applying eyeliner is a tricky task, so it’s okay to make mistakes! No biggie, everyone does!
But one thing you have to keep in mind: don’t smudge!!! Instead, invest in a good makeup remover and apply a small amount on a cotton swab. Then gently wipe clean.
Practice Makes Perfect!
While we’re on lockdown, take this opportunity to master your eyeliner skills!
As they say, try and try until you succeed! And when it comes to makeup, there’s no giving up!
