Start with the brows

An overlooked part of having the perfect eyeshadow and eye makeup in general is the brow area. You’d want to keep that area clean and trimmed, so one of our makeup tips is before starting on your eyeshadow, grab a pair of tweezers, an eyebrow shave, or thread and get to work on those brows.

Loosen your grip on your brush

Eyeshadow needs an eyeshadow brush to apply, and one common mistake beginners make is holding their brush a little too close to the ferrel or the area near the bristles. I’ve definitely been guilty of this one, but now that I’ve read more makeup tips, it makes sense to loosen your grip on the brush a little.

Even though holding your eyeshadow brush closer makes it easier to control, it actually makes your makeup look patchy! The best way to use it is to position your fingers nearer to the bottom of the eyeshadow brush so that the eyeshadow is easier to blend.

Prime your eye and add concealer

We want our eye makeup to really pop, and applying the eyeshadow directly onto the eye usually doesn’t do it. The trick here is to use concealer, or eyeshadow primer if you have it, and apply it to your lids and under your brow bone. Our skin also has indentations and fine lines that make blending eyeshadow a bit of a pain, so we suggest getting a skin tone-colored powder on your beauty blender and using it to set your eyeshadow. This makes blending a lot easier!

Create a gradient

This is what makeup artists call a “transition shade.” Take an eyeshadow color from your palette and apply it to the outer part of your eyelid. This is the area that is visible when the eye is open, just above your crease. Use a fluffy brush to apply this shade in a sweeping motion around your crease.

Apply highlight

What I miss the most about life before COVID-19 is putting on makeup and preparing to go out everyday. Now, there’s just no reason to do my brows and paint my lips, and it’s no fun.

Moisturizer

One thing you should never forget to do before painting your face with all those products is to put on moisturizer. Apply a good moisturizer and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes. This will give your skin the opportunity to lock and seal in the moisture.

Primer

For many ladies, applying foundation is the first step of their makeup routine. That’s completely fine. But if you want to make sure that your foundation provides better coverage and stays on longer, you want to apply a primer.

Concealer

Everyday makeup is all about looking fresh, as if you’re not tired from a whole week’s worth of work. And the best way to brighten up those tired eyes is by applying concealer.

You don’t want to go too overboard with your concealer so that you can still pull off that no-makeup makeup look. So just apply a dab of concealer under each eye and blend it properly with a makeup sponge. You can also apply a teeny bit on blemishes or discolorations to effectively conceal them.

Eyebrows

Some girls are just naturally blessed with lush, thick eyebrows. If that’s the case for you, then FINE, you can skip this step. (Jealous much) But if you’re like me and you weren’t exactly fortunate enough to get beautiful brows, then doing your brows everyday is mandatory!

Now, I know that filling in your brows isn’t exactly easy. I’ve seen enough ‘brow makeup gone wrong’ instances to know that. But with enough practice, you’ll be well on your way towards natural-looking brows everyday.

Start by outlining your brows to your desired shape. Remember, though, to keep it as natural as possible. Then fill in the spaces lightly and use a brow brush to blend.

Lips

By now you probably get that everyday makeup is all about looking fresh natural. So when it comes to lipstick, you want to go with a nude shade that doesn’t attract too much attention, but also gives your lips enough color for it to look flattering.

But I definitely understand if nude lipstick is not your cup of tea. I, for one, don’t particularly look good in neutral shades. So if you want to go for a brighter color, you can also use cheek and lip tints for that sweet touch.
