Pond’s BB Magic Powder Review
Do you struggle with keeping your skin clear and oil-free throughout the day? We know the feeling too well! It’s especially hard when you’re living in a tropical climate like the Philippines.
But that’s why we love Asian beauty products, specifically the made-in-Thailand Pond’s BB Powder. This loose powder magically keeps your skin free of sebum, blemishes, and dull skin tone. What more could you want? Let’s get to know this makeup product in our full review.
About Pond’s BB Magic Powder
Wearing makeup in a humid country can be difficult, especially when you have oily type skin. Luckily, the Magic Powder from Pond’s is perfect for our weather.
The translucent powder gives you a pinkish-white glow while controlling sebum in the T-zone to make your skin appear fresh all day. You’ll emulate the glow of your favorite beauty blogger or lifestyle blogger in no time.
You might wonder, why choose BB powder over BB creams? Typically, powders like Pond’s Magic Powders are better for oil control. Although creams can provide better coverage, they can make your skin grease up when not used properly.
That said, you don’t have to let go of creams completely. The Pond’s BB Powder is finely milled so it can be used to set your foundation, blush, and contour – all of which can be cream-based makeup products. The choice is up to you.
The great part is, this product includes sun-protecting ingredients so your sunscreen can get some additional help. The powder form also makes it easy to reapply throughout the day in case your oily skin starts to act up again.

Ingredients of Pond’s BB Magic Powder
- Aluminum Hydroxide. This one is mainly responsible for making the color of the product white and opaque. However, it’s also a cool emollient, meaning it makes the fine powder feel really nice.
- Aluminum Stearate. This ingredient works as a viscosity controller for the product.
- Titanium Dioxide. A compound often seen in mineral sunscreens, titanium dioxide not only protects your skin from sun damage but also opacifies the product to give it its unique color.
- Talc. This clay mineral can be found in most powders because it helps with the spreadability and translucency of the product.
- Zinc Oxide. Found in physical sunscreens, zinc oxide is a great wide-spectrum protectant, meaning it’s effective against harmful UVB, UVA I, and UVA II equally.
How to Use the Pond’s Magic BB Powder
Pour a little of the powder onto your palm then lightly pat all over your face. When using this product as a setting powder, pour a bit of the product onto the bottle cap and apply it using a brush.

Our Verdict
The packaging is pretty straightforward: a baby pink bottle that is easy to grip, portable, and functional. It’s nothing special, but good enough considering the affordable price.
The next thing I noticed was the pleasant smell. Normally, I’m not a fan of fragrance, especially if it’s for makeup products, but this one was mild enough to get away with it!
I tried this first as a substitute for the foundation during one of my “no-makeup” makeup days. To be honest, I was worried it would leave a small white cast, or the pinkish tinge would make my skin’s yellow undertone look ashy. Thank goodness it didn’t! I love how smooth and soft the texture of the powder was – super easy to apply.
Keeping in mind that this is a light coverage powder, it does a really wonderful job of covering up minor blemishes and dark spots.
The only negative comment I have is that it’s not as effective as a makeup base compared to, say, a dedicated cream (BB version or not). I’d recommend this product as a setting powder for those with oily or acne-prone skin, or anyone who wants to go for a more natural, breathable look.
Pond’s Magic BB Powder
Overall, this product would make a fine addition to any makeup kit. If you struggle with sebum control, then you’ll love the mattifying finish the powder is known for. It’s also very affordable and easy to apply, which is a must for anyone who likes a quick retouch every now and then.
