Bust Measurement

Bust size is the fullest part of your breast, and this is how you get the most accurate cup measurement. Wrap the tape measure around the fullest part of your chest. Try to keep your body in a neutral position, neither breathe in nor out. This will ensure that your bra isn’t too tight or too loose. Take note of the measurement, because this will determine your cup size.

Band Size Measurement

Next, take the measuring tape and wrap it around the underside of your breasts, where your bra band usually sits. Again, keep your torso neutral and the tape snug but not too tight. Think of how you would like the band to fit your ribcage. 

Often, people underestimate band size and tolerate a tight or larger band, but that can later on contribute to breast pain or your straps digging too harshly into your skin. The correct band size is integral to the right bra fit. In fact, it’s responsible for most of the support for your breasts. Not the cups or the straps. That’s why strapless bras work.

How to Compute for Your Bra Size

To get your cup size, simply subtract the band size from your bust size. For example, if your bust measures 34 inches and your band measures 30, that would be 34-30 = 4. The ratio is as follows:

• >1 inch = AA
• 1 in. = A
• 2 in. = B
• 3 in. = C
• 4 in. = D
• 5 in. = F

And so on. With a bust-to-band difference of 4 inches, that means your ideal bra size would be 30D. 

This also means A-cups and D-cups aren’t determined by how large or small one’s breasts are, but how they’re positioned in conjunction with one’s torso. So if you’ve constantly thought you were an A-cup just because you have a modest chest, you might be surprised to find you could actually fit a C-cup size bra.

Remember that cup sizes and band sizes can vary from brand to brand, so don’t get discouraged if something isn’t the perfect fit. What matters most when you’re bra fitting is finding a comfortable bra with the best support for any outfit.

“Underwired bras are super comfy,” said no one ever.

All our lives, we have been told that we need to wear these kinds of bras not only to achieve the lift for an enhanced cleavage, but also to prevent premature sagging. Although now that we have a bunch of wire-free options, it begs me to wonder why a lot have women haven’t changed their bra shopping habits just yet.

At the end of a long day, the first thing a woman usually does once she gets home to get comfy is rip her bra off (unless she takes her shoes off first, then it’s the second thing). No matter if you were fitted properly for an underwire bra or not, there’s no denying how restrictive they can be. These bras can only be comfortable for a certain amount of time..

So here’s why you should stop wearing underwired bras completely:

1. Your body is always changing

Throughout a woman’s life, she will go through so many changes in her body. Even as a adult, she will experience some transformations, whether she goes through weight gain/loss, has a baby, or simply because it’s that time of month again. Bras fit differently depending on where you are in your cycle.

Generally, the fit of underwired bras will change from the time you bought it to a year after, and they give very little room for growth or weight loss.

2. The wires are eventually going to poke through the fabric

Like any other item you have in your wardrobe, bras go through that inevitable wear and tear from all the stretching and washing. Unfortunately for the underwire variety, that means the wire might end up poking through the fabric, thus poking you either in between your boobs or at the side. Then you have to buy new bras, and the cycle is never ending.

3. A bra doesn’t need an underwire to be considered sexy

If you’ve got a longer, black chemise, you might be able to wear it as a cocktail dress with heeled sandals and a shawl.

For babydolls and shorter negligees, you can tuck them into jeans, or go for a more sophisticated vibe with tailored pants with a matching blazer. This works for both lacy and silky nighties. However, just be weary that any outfit featuring a lacy babydoll is more suited for dinner and evening drinks rather than a daytime look.

Bralettes

Corsets

They might not be as comfortable as the rest of the lingerie pieces above, but corsets double up as shapewear, enhancing your bust and slimming down your waist (all the while concealing any problem spots in your midsection).
